The mission could be dangerous. He would be working undercover with other permanent agents. Before being sent, he had to spend a month training.
The Espionage Unit wanted Yong because of his expertise with computers. One of his duties would be to make connections with another country to obtain vital information about their army and defense, which would be sent back to the States.
During his stay, Yong and another agent learned about two manufacturers of fentanyl. Yong targeted the company's computers to incorporate a formula that had an explosive reaction.
The story also describes other agents worldwide conducting sophisticated espionage operations and discovering how to curtail cyberattacks from adversary governments. There are some cases where espionage works two ways at times, with the US being the seeker, receiving documents from a willing source, from a rogue agent on the other side, the enemy.
